Clean Win Games: Battalia.Chess

Battalia.Chess is a strategy game that re-imagines traditional chess as a customizable, combat-driven 1v1 skirmish game. Rather than strictly following classical chess rules, it blends chess mechanics and wargame-style unit building into one experience.

The main goal is to slay the opponent’s king. The game starts with army construction. Players choose from multiple units with a max of 40 spawn points. Unit upgrades are achieved in game through acquiring kill points. There are multiple actions per unit.
The action takes place on a table-top mock style playing field with a grid floor from a three-quarter isometric perspective. Units move according to their specific movement pattern throughout the playing field and engage in battles. As units trek across the field, they may choose to navigate around randomized obstructions or destroy them – possibly uncovering traps and/or hostile monsters.
Players can also gain items as additional upgrades and supports through slaying monsters, successfully attacking The Dragon or uncovering treasures hidden under obstructions.

Battalia.Chess also features card-assisted elements. Players have the option to draw a card each turn or store additional resource points towards actions, movements, offense, defense, or spawning more units. Cards drawn can result in positive or negative outcomes. Positive cards can be used when drawn or be stored using the facedown card mechanic – to be activated on your turn or the opponent’s team.

Battalia.Chess is meant to be played competitively as a 2-player game with the ultimate vision of being an online e-sport. It is intended to be played cross-platforms. There will be an option for a game-mode for players to exclusively compete against a computer(cpu) as well. Turns are time-based to force players to strategize and move quickly.
